My Favorite Murder – Listen Here

You have your monthly Sunday brunch with your friends and have been as excited as ever. You always loved catching up and sharing stories. But what if you talk about your favorite murder story? The concept of My Favorite Murder Podcast is precisely this. You get to hear the two hosts, Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, talk about their favorite true crime stories, just like how you share and listen to different stories with your long-time friends.

My Favorite Murder Podcast is said to be a true crime comedy podcast. The two hosts are comedians who share a love for true crime and a fascination with these cases, especially hometown stories. You will mostly hear their banters throughout the episodes. They are fun and quick-witted. Entertaining is one word to describe this true crime podcast. They are always quick with their humor and banters that are not overbearing nor patronizing. Instead, they are blunt and honest.

They never shy away from sensitive topics and show understanding toward the victims. The podcast grew a fanbase all over the years when they first started last January 2016, where fans call themselves Murderinos. They garnered attention all over the media and are considered one of the most successful true crime podcasts out there. Kilgariff and Hardstark have been invited to podcasts and magazines to discuss their show. They also co-wrote a book featuring their popular catchphrase.

What do I like about My Favorite Murder Podcast?

I have been in love with true crime podcasts as long as I remember but have never enjoyed ones that are not deep dive and serious. This is why listening to My Favorite Murder is new to me since I fell in love with the podcast. For one, the podcast feels like you are talking to your fellow true crime enthusiast friends or just casual friends. Where you have a good time and share your stories. The podcast is easy to the ears, and their banters and one-liners will certainly get you entertained the whole hour they tackle the episode.

My Favorite Murder Podcast is laced with humor, they are not disrespectful and know where to draw the line. They have a way of commenting to show more understanding of the people involved in these cases. You can also note how open they are with every case or relevant topic they breach upon. They are not afraid to convey their genuine insights, and they give out different perspectives on the cases they cover.

true crime in my favorite murder podcast

In the show’s first episode, Hardstark discussed her “favorite murder,” the famous case of JonBenét Ramsey. She relayed the story well, though it may be missing some parts here and there and not as in-depth as the usual true crime podcasts would. However, both the hosts’ enthusiasm and opinions on the case are amusing, and a great listen.

On the other hand, Kilgariff talked about the Golden State Killer, which she chose to discuss since it is a story that is close to home for her since she graduated in Sacramento.

What do I not?

Do I love the My Favorite Murder Podcast? Yes, I do. However, is it the best true crime podcast of all time? I humbly disagree, but it has become one of my favorites to date. The show gives a different color to the true crime podcasts we usually listen to, and it is great in its own right. The podcast may not be for you if you seek heavy details on the information and a serious deep dive into the cases.

After all, the podcast is a true crime comedy hosted by comedians interested in these topics. They keep the atmosphere casual and laced with humor. As mentioned above, the stories are well-narrated and interesting, but some people prefer the straight-to-the-point approach.

Final thoughts

I got into podcasts because of true crime cases. But My Favorite Murder Podcast brings something new to the table – their laid-back approach, quick wit and humor, and straightforward insights. They may not have the most information on their cases, but the discussions are interesting, informative, and honest. I have fallen in love with the My Favorite Murder Podcast. As they are certainly a breath of fresh air I never knew I needed regarding true crime. The podcast has 357 episodes up to date and counting, and I will certainly count with them by staying tuned to their latest episodes.
