Sweet Bobby Podcast

Sweet Bobby Podcast – Listen Here

If you have a fondness for stories about catfishing, then Sweet Bobby podcast is the perfect choice for you. This six-part audio series tells of a scam and a love affair that quickly takes a turn for the worse. It’s an intriguing listen as investigative reporter Alexi Mostrous takes us through the twisted story of Kirat, a 30-year-old who falls prey to Bobby, a cardiologist she meets online.

What unfolds is a tale of manipulation and coercion that eventually leads to Kirat entering the witness protection program. But it’s not your typical true-crime podcast. Instead of focusing on the whodunnit aspect, Mostrous explores the ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind the crime. It’s an interesting take on a genre that often relies heavily on sensationalism to keep audiences hooked.

A Background To The Podcast, Sweet Bobby By Tortoise Media

If Kirat Assi were to narrate her story in one go, you might find it believable, but initially, you may not grasp the extent of the challenges she has faced.

Kirat is a successful radio presenter. She fell victim to an elaborate online scam called catfishing. This merciless plot involved the use of a stolen identity, photos, life events, and even a fictitious network of friends and family to ensnare her in a decade-long deceit of an utterly devastating and nearly impossible to comprehend magnitude.

During her time on Facebook, she meets Bobby, a handsome cardiologist who seems like quite a catch. Soon, they get tangled up in a love affair filled with falsehoods and manipulation. However, Kirat discovers a deception, that is almost unimaginable proportions.

Although Simran confessed to being the catfish, Kirat is still persistently seeking justice as she grapples with overwhelming grief, anger, and uncertainty. Following the revelation that the person she had been dating for three years, Bobby, was, in fact, Simran Bhogal, Kirat’s younger cousin.

The podcast is hosted by Alexi Mostrous, Tortoise’s Investigations Editor. and former Head of Investigations at the Times newspaper. The show turns unexpectedly when it’s revealed that Bobby might not have actually committed a crime. British laws regarding catfishing are somewhat hazy, creating a unique twist that’ll leave you questioning what’s real and what isn’t.

Since it started, Sweet Bobby has earned widespread praise for its engaging storytelling and great production values. Whether you’re a fan of true crime or just looking to be entertained, it’s worth a listen. It’ll leave you wanting more and, who knows, maybe even make you think twice about online relationships!

What’s So Special about Sweet Bobby Podcast?

Sweet Bobby isn’t like other true crime podcasts. It’s less about the actual crime and more about how it affects its victim, Kirat. We get to understand her story deeply and explore the emotional implications of the crime.

Mostrous also takes a refreshingly straightforward approach to the podcast. He doesn’t rely on shock tactics or sensationalism, instead focusing on providing a comprehensive and balanced story for listeners. Ultimately, it’s a gripping and unique audio drama that will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end. One thing that I love about Sweet Bobby is how creative it is. It keeps you guessing and surprises you with unexpected twists that keep you hooked all the way through.

What’s Not So Great?

One of the few drawbacks of Sweet Bobby is its length. At six episodes, it’s a relatively short series in comparison to other true crime podcasts. That being said, each episode is relatively long, and there’s plenty of content to keep you invested in the story from start to finish. And if you’re a bit of an audiophile, you may not love the sound quality. It’s not terrible, but it could be improved upon. That’s it, though – that’s the only real downside, according to my lenses.

Final Verdict

In short, Sweet Bobby podcast is the perfect example of how true crime podcasts can be gripping and thought-provoking. It’s a show that doesn’t rely on gore or violence to draw in listeners but instead tells a fascinating story that’ll keep you guessing until the very end. Give it a try, and you will see why it’s one of the most creative and exciting podcasts. Highly recommended for fans of the genre. You won’t be disappointed!
