Duane Osterlind’s journey from addiction to becoming a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist Supervisor was long, winding, and challenging.
At 17, he entered inpatient rehab for depression and substance abuse. During his time there, he received intensive help, which enabled him to develop new skills and change his thinking. His depression began to lift as he took control of his life and sought healthier coping mechanisms than alcohol or drugs.
After recovering from addiction, Duane pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy at California State University-Long Beach. He graduated with his Masters in the same field shortly after that. With knowledge about how relationships work and addiction affects people’s lives, Duane set up Novus Mindful Life Institute. As its Clinical Director, he provides therapy services for sex addicts, porn addicts, couples dealing with infidelity issues, anxiety sufferers, etc.
