About The Host

So, let’s talk about the person behind the Podcast, the Mayor: Kurt Onstad. He’s the one who steers the ship and makes this podcast sail. Kurt is a lifelong geek, and his journey into the geeky world started way back when he was playing Dungeons & Dragons at the young age of six.

He’s been an adventurer as a player, a dungeon master, and even dabbled in the world of webcomics with “Dr. Lobster.” He read sci-fi and fantasy books from the library and got hooked on comic book superheroes by watching Super Friends on Saturday mornings.

Kurt has a knack for taking his geeky passions and turning them into real-life gigs. He’s worked in radio, helped folks with their tech issues, and once even managed a comic book store in Bellflower, CA.

Now, during the day, you might find Kurt dealing with accounts payable, but when he’s off the clock, he’s all about embracing his geeky side. His passion, knowledge, and relatable style make the Geektown Podcast an exciting journey into the heart of all things geeky.

What I Like About The Podcast

So, let me tell you about the Welcome To Geektown Podcast. It’s seriously amazing! What I love about this podcast is that it welcomes both newcomers and hardcore fans, but even non-geeks can join in on the fun.

One of the best things about this podcast is the interaction between listeners and the host. You can send in questions about anything geeky, and they’ll discuss it in an episode. It’s a great way to learn something new and share your knowledge with others. Plus, the episodes are short and sweet, so you can easily fit them into your busy schedule.

Now, let’s talk about that soundtrack. It deserves a perfect score, hands down It reminds me of those old-school superhero shows from back in the day. You know, the ones where the villain would show up and the screen would go all static-y and then the hero would come in and save the day? That’s the vibe I get from their intro & outro music. And not only that, but they also provide pictures, movie clips, and comic strips on their website. It’s like a one-stop shop for all things geeky.

But the best part of Welcome To Geektown is the content. Kurt covers everything from comic books to sci-fi to role-playing games. He is awesome at breaking down complicated geeky things and making them easy to understand. Each episode feels like you’re hanging out with fellow geeks, no matter if you’re a newbie or a pro.

So, if you’re looking for a podcast that’s informative, entertaining, and community-driven, Welcome To Geektown is the one for you.

What I Least Like

I need to be honest with you, there are times when I feel like the episodes are just too short. Don’t get me wrong, I love how they provide quick and easy information, but there are certain episodes that you’re really interested in and you just want to listen more. It’s a bit of a bummer.

And it’s not like I want them to go on and on and on. I just want a little bit more, you know?
