Something is fascinating about talking about historical true crime cases. For one, the environment where these incidents happened before is different. The narrator Judith A. Yates wrote the books and narrated the podcast herself. She is said to be an award-winning true crime author and a criminologist with 30 years of experience. She has mentioned being an enthusiast and explorer of the paranormal. This shows in the way she narrates the podcast and the topics chosen for the podcast. 
At the same time, true to its description, the episodes center cases from several years ago. The first episode of the podcast, The Angel Maker From Hell, features a story of an “Angel Maker” from old Poland who makes unwanted babies “go away” and eventually be fed to her pigs. The episode was cruel, but at the same time, it is interesting and new to the ears. Exploring the dark history of true crime is the podcast’s goal and has successfully garnered some attention.
What Is Great About The Best True Crime Podcast?
Although classic true crime stories are not my cup of tea, I appreciate them highly, and I can understand why some are truly interested in this subject. The podcast may be underrated, but the host’s interesting take and subjects would garner people’s attention.
At the same time, the topics discussed here are not well-known and happened decades ago, which gives voice to these stories that some may need to remember or have yet to learn. This also allows people to check out different kinds of true crime podcasts, especially ones that talk about old true crime stories.
The podcast features different kinds of stories and series from the past. It does not shy away from different parts of true crime and the dark history of our world that is not mostly talked about in true crime podcasts, such as female serial killers, old cruel capital punishment, and stories of discrimination. The podcast is fair with its narration and seeks to provide detailed information on each subject.
What Is Not?
As a lover of true crime podcasts, I have always listened to the most interesting ones, especially with deep dives. I am eager to know more about the stories being told, and I like to research on my own. Some of the stories mentioned on the podcast have obscure or little information about them. I would have appreciated it if there were references on their official site. Although I greatly enjoy the podcast’s topics and find them interesting either way, I would still want to check all the anecdotes and sources.

At the same time, some topics seem to not be maximized. Some episodes last only for 13 minutes and will not be discussed again. Some are parts of a series, and others are at least 30 minutes long. The stories could be more organized, at least in my humble opinion. Also, the description contains a little information about the episode. Again, this can be a production problem but may certainly be improved in the future. The podcast gives the impression of still having the potential to be enhanced. In the end, preferences may still differ from person to person.

Obscure cases of the past are certainly exciting and enthralling, and this true crime podcast gives life to these cases.
