The Podcast Host
Mike Ware is an active-duty U.S. Army troop. He enlisted in the United States Army in 2011 as a 68X Behavioral Health Specialist. He currently serves as a Drill Sergeant and is supported by his wonderful wife, Sarah, and his two amazing children, Corbin and Elliot.
Having earned his Bachelor’s degree in Military History he is pursuing his Master’s in the same subject. He thanks his awesome teachers for making it interesting for him.
In his free time, Michael is either watching a hockey game or a history documentary, accompanied by an Irish whiskey.
Why You Should Listen To The Podcast?
I recently stumbled upon the Hardtack podcast, and boy am I glad I did! First off, the intro is killer. The military sound grabs your attention right away and sets the tone for what’s to come. But what really stands out to me is the use of background music throughout each episode. It’s a small touch, but it adds another layer of depth and engagement to the storytelling.

And let me tell ya, that ending quote – “keep your hardtack dry” – always gets me chuckling! It’s become such a catchy phrase that every time an episode ends, I find myself saying it out loud along with Mike.

Aspects That Need Improvement
I just gotta say this podcast is amazing! It’s so good to hear that they finally added some background music. The previous episodes were missing that little something-something, you know?
The only thing that could be a bit frustrating is the inconsistency of episode uploads, but knowing that Mike is still serving in the Army makes it totally understandable.
