It’s a witty and informative podcast about the unpredictable realm of professional tennis.
So, if you’re interested in learning more about the game of tennis, check out my review on No Challenges Remaining. And see what all the buzz is about.
What Is No Challenges Remaining Podcast?
The ‘Original’ of tennis podcasts, No Challenges Remaining, is the first to make a pitch for a tennis podcast, with over 300 episodes to date. Hosted by Ben Rothenberg and Courtney Nguyen, NCR will keep you up-to-date on a vast array of tennis standpoints and can even make you laugh, oppose, criticize, and yell all in one episode. The show also discusses controversial matters while helping you stay abreast of the latest in the field of tennis.
Ben Rothenberg has written fantastic tennis articles for the New York Times and is deemed one of the most influential tennis journalists in the world. While Courtney Nguyen is a Senior Writer for WTA Insider at wtatennis.com.
Ben and Courtney met in Mason, Ohio, in 2010 and found out they shared a fondness for professional tennis. And their love for the quirky characters that comprise the game of professional tennis has appointed them tennis best of friends since then. The two enjoy talking about tennis at any time of the day on any topic that matches them and publishes podcasts on a regular basis.
Episodes vary from 45 minutes to more than 2 hours of running time. NCR podcast is recognized for its long episodes, though they are usually separated into several parts and are often definitely worth the listen if you have some time.
Why Do I Listen To This Podcast?
Different from a few other existing podcasts, the No Challenges Remaining pod isn’t your typical daily or weekly show. It isn’t your minion if what you’re searching for is merely rankings and some needless weekly recap. That’s what separates NCR pod from the rest of them. Mainly, fans who enjoy the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) will see this as the one they’ll listen to. Rest assured, they still cover many Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) happenings, but the WTA receives little attention on some podcasts.
Ben and Courtney’s love for tennis exudes in the podcast, comprising various topics and featured guests. The hosts are outspoken WTA fans and never avoid going out of their way to discuss queer or controversial topics that others won’t cover. They have a genuine rapport and matching pop culture appreciation that makes for an exciting listen. I always enjoy hearing their insights as a duo because they obviously respect one another enough to contradict and deliver thrilling rebuttals wisely.
Even though these two knowledgeable journalists embark on long but entertaining episodes, they present very coherent analyses of the relevant subjects and events in tennis that must be dealt with appropriately. They mostly rely on telling extraordinary stories and keeping matters festive, so it does not get yawnsome no matter how.
What I Dislike About No Challenges Remaining Podcast?
I like the podcast and Ben and Courtney’s applicable and fascinating insights. My number 1 complaint is the several occasions Courtney says the word “like” in every episode. It is somewhat cringe-worthy. She also uses nicknames for most players absurdly. It doesn’t seem nice if I’m one of those individuals getting called by the media with a moniker. I didn’t like at all.
Plus, Ben talks too fast and does not articulate well, making it more challenging to absorb the conversation sometimes.
Final Say
It takes work to stay well-informed with our favorite tennis players, considering their busy schedules and continuous flow of results. But No Challenges Remaining podcast makes it effortless and enjoyable. The show brings diehard tennis fans to the tennis world, giving us a look behind the matches and the players in the news.
Are you someone who likes tennis and needs to explore more and be in the know with the current news? Well then, No Challenges Remaining is your podcast.
